The Retired & Senior Volunteer Program is a part of the
National Senior Corps. Funded by a federal grant and
sponsored by Venango County Area Agency on Aging, this
program helps people age 55 and older find rewarding
opportunities for community service. Each year 600+
volunteers serve to strengthen and support programs in
over 50 agencies in Venango County.
Volunteers serve in a wide range of capacities from
advocating for the elderly and visiting with seniors to
mapping locations of abandoned oil wells and testing
county streams.
Volunteers are essential to our county. They often
enable non profit agencies such as theatres, museums and
thrift stores to remain open. Many lives have been
touched by the trained volunteers who assist during
disasters, prepare taxes, serve soup, make toys, deliver
meals. guide museum visitors, assist in theatrical
productions and lend a helping hand at nursing
homes. This is only a partial list of
possibilities.
Please call the Project Advisor to schedule an interview
and learn how your skills can help. Training is free
and supplementary insurance is provided during
service hours.
Volunteers choose their own hours, meet new people,
learn new skills and have FUN too!
