Join the Great PA Cleanup!

Let’s Pick it Up PA! April 19, 2008

The Great Pennsylvania Cleanup, formerly known as Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful, is an annual litter pick-up program in which local volunteer groups collect litter along Pennsylvania road ways.  The litter is collected in trash bags provided by PENNDOT and the bags are then collected by PENNDOT personnel to be disposed of.  All of these pick-up efforts are coordinated for “GPC Day” which is Saturday, April 19, 2008.

Anyone can volunteer!
The Great Pennsylvania Cleanup is open to any volunteer group.  Your Boy / Cub Scouts, or Girl Scout group can participate. Your ball team, your youth group or even your family and friends may participate as a Volunteer group. A group can be any amount you like.

Picnic and PRIZES
An “Appreciation Picnic” for all volunteers will be held at the PENNDOT Main shed at 1460 Pittsburgh Road, Franklin. Hotdogs, chips, and pop will be served starting at noon.  Registration for prizes will begin at 11:00 am until 1:00 pm at which time prizes will be given away by random drawing.  Last year we gave away, bikes, games, stereos, and many other wonderful prizes, all donated by local businesses.

You must be present to win !!

If you, your family or group would like to volunteer for this most important community event, please call Patty Miller, GPC Coordinator at (814) 432-3115 or (814) 673-6144.  At that time you may register for a specific road in which your group would like to work on.  Please keep in mind that roads are registered on a first come first serve basis.  Also you may set up a time to pick up your supplies needed for the litter pick-up.  Supplies, which include gloves, safety vests, and bags, are all provided by your local Venango County PENNDOT office.

So come out and help with the “Great Pennsylvania Cleanup”!
