The Venango County Substance Abuse
Program was established in 1972 as a result of the Pennsylvania
Drug and Alcohol Abuse Control Act. The Substance Abuse Program
is the Single County Authority or SCA that contracts with the
Pennsylvania Department of Health, Bureau of Drug and Alcohol
Programs to develop and maintain a comprehensive health,
education, rehabilitation program in Venango County for the
prevention, intervention, case management and treatment of drug
and alcohol dependence.
The Venango County Substance Abuse
Program office offers drug and alcohol services to county
residents that include assessment and evaluations. All
assessments and evaluations are completed at no charge to
the individual. Case management services are available to
assist and support individuals in the referral to treatment
providers and coordinating additional services. Contact
this office at 678-6580 to schedule an appointment.
Treatment services are covered by
Medical Assistance and county funding is available if a county
resident is eligible. Privately insured persons contact their
insurance policies. Treatment services include all levels of
care, i.e., outpatient, intensive outpatient, partial
hospitalization, and residential services.
The Substance Abuse Program
contracts with various treatment agencies in order to provide
these necessary treatment services for county residents.
Intensive Case Management Services
are also available. These provide the individual with other
necessary ancillary contacts to pursue a drug-free lifestyle.
These contacts may include assistance with housing needs,
transportation, employment/education, child-care, and
coordination with other agencies or programs.
The Venango County Substance Abuse
Program is also the primary contractor of the tobacco settlement
funds to provide a tobacco control program in Venango
County. These programs include a community coalition, Together
We Can; school programs where youth learn the effects of tobacco
use and alternative activities, community programs, cessation
programs, enforcement activities, clean air for healthy children
programs, business and restaurant smoke free activities, etc. |
